As the only dedicated Nordic shop in town, Jans’ White Pine Touring Center offers Nordic ski gear, clothing, and accessories, as well as equipment demos, ski tuning, lessons, and access to the community’s most precisely maintained Nordic track, with options for 3K, 5K, and 10K courses. In fact when the U.S. Olympic Team is in town, this is where they train.

You don’t have to be an Olympian to enjoy Nordic skiing, though. An introductory lesson and an easy cruise around the track can enrich a vacation focused primarily on alpine skiing. And here’s a dirty little locals’ secret: when the snow is old on the mountain, it can actually be a lot more fun to go Nordic skiing than to cruise the slopes.
